This is an original children book written and illustrated by me, based on Czech lore, about the creation and founding of Czech Republic’s capital, Prague.
It tells the story of how a prophetic princess had a dream about “a great city whose glory will touch the stars.” My story takes that legend and infuses it with a little bit of fantasy and alchemy, and enriches it with luscious illustration depicting characters and events from history.
Two of the main characters are the titular princess: Libussa, the prophet with flowing strawberry blonde hair, and Jan Sindel, a medieval scientist whose calculations helped build the Prague’s astronomical clock.
Here are both:
Note that this story is not historically accurate, as I took the liberties to mix characters from different time periods.
